It was a winter day in 2004 when I found myself gazing at the blinking lights of my office laptop. Fresh from a car accident and heavy with the question, "Why AM I doing this anyway?", I realized I was living a life far removed from what truly mattered to me. It was a wake-up call, loud and undeniable.

Sound familiar?

As a high-achieving graduate of Johnson & Johnson's Leadership Development Program, I excelled in my pharmaceutical sales career. But each sale, each target, each blinking light on my office laptop was a glaring reminder of how far I had strayed from myself.

If you're like me, you're probably pretty good at keeping all the plates spinning. You're the one who's got it together, the reliable one everyone turns to. You're brilliant, successful, and above all, driven. And you've got the battle scars of a fast-paced life to show for it.

You know what I'm talking about, right?

The weight of everyone else's expectations, the persistent voice telling you to keep going even when you're running on fumes, the constant feeling of needing to do more, be more.

It's that harsh whisper of self-gaslighting that says you can make do with less...

—less sleep, less play, less rest. (Raising my own hand here!)

But here's the thing...

While everyone else is counting on you, are you counting on yourself? Or does your self-care and your personal dreams fall by the wayside while you're busy ticking off everyone else's to-do lists?

I was in my early twenties showing signs of ACCELERATED AGING (people often guessed I was 10 years older than I was). I had ECZEMA and ANXIETY. Panic attacks showed up. I started eating and drinking way too much.

I spent hours at the gym but the WEIGHT GAIN continued. I suffered 6 month long SINUS INFECTIONS, a 5-month bout of IBS (my digestion hurt so badly I could not even drink chicken broth.)

I suffered heart palpitations, ALLERGIES and premature HAIR LOSS! It was like my 7th grade stress illnesses had a reunion, but this time on steroids!

Despite all evidence to the contrary, I thought I was doing alright: I had zero debt and a house in a beautiful resort town. I was well respected in my career and amassed a couple year’s worth salary in under 24 months ‘just because’.

—but my incorrect attempts to boost my self-worth and confidence merely resulted in burning out from over-committing and self-neglect.

So, if you're feeling like a hamster on a wheel, living for everyone else's needs while your own fall to the last on the list, know this - you're not alone.

I did it for decades. And the good news? I'm here, and I can help!

"All the things that truly matter, beauty, love, creativity, joy and inner peace arise from beyond the mind." -Eckhart Tolle
